Reading Clubs

Reading clubs started in February 2021 with 4 schools.  Since that time, clubs have been established in 12 schools in Kpandai and East Gonja Districts of Northern Ghana.  Reading clubs meet weekly after school to improve reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills of students.  Clubs are open to all students and are made up of girls and boys. 

Twice a year, Reading club competitions are held between the schools.  At each competition schools are awarded with reading books, teacher textbooks and other learning materials.  Students and community members come together to cheer on their school and to support the program.  The host school prepares a cultural dance to perform during the competition.

-Reading Assessments for students

-Teacher Training Workshops

-Scholarships for teachers to advance their education

-Classroom furniture
